We had visited the casino once before while on vacation and had fallen in love with the woodwork and quaint antique feel of the old train station.
We were so excited to try staying at this beautiful, vintage hotel/casino when the discounted room offer came through my girlfriend's email, I asked her to book it immediately for June 19 to the 23 for us. We’ll find other local casinos to patronize that appreciate repeat customers. My husband observed several patrons taste the VIPA and every one handed it back and said, “No thanks.” The conclusion-there’s no longer a reason to return to Main Street Station. Unfortunately, they’ve swapped out their delicious Carlsbad IPA for VIPA-a skunky tasting beer that nobody wants to drink. We love the food at the 777 Brew Pub along with a great IPA. This last time we were there on a Friday night and the place was practically empty. Not all the buttons work and the player’s card readers take several attempts and most times don’t register your card. The machines are sorely in need of maintenance. We’ve come here a few times since the shut-down and where we used to hit some wins and jackpots, this doesn’t happen any more. Unfortunately, as a fun place to gamble, it is no more. It received a 2 instead of a 1 only because the staff is always friendly and that hasn’t changed.
Sadly, ever since COVID, this place has not come back and is doing nothing to entice patrons to return.
